Democrats on Borough Council?
In 2016 and 2017 Democrats were the majority party on borough council. Though we didn't agree on every issue before us we always deliberated in public.
We also made some important contributions to the borough.
Democrats secured the solvency of the Fire Company with predictable funding ensuring Public Safety.
Democrats met with PennDOT on November 2nd, 2017 to establish the plan for traffic calming measures along Valleybrook Road. The engineer presented the plan at the December 4th, 2017 Council meeting which was the last meeting for the Democratic Council.
Democrats designed & trademarked the first ever borough logo. Which was scrapped the moment new leadership took over council.
Democrats established the Chester Heights Borough Facebook & Instagram pages.
Democrats implemented Constant Contact for communicating with our residents.
Democrats created the Open Space Fund.
Democrats established and funded the Road Master and Emergency Management Coordinator position.
In 2018 on the very first day of the new Council the remaining Democratic council members were removed from their committees with few exceptions. The committee assignments were predetermined and assigned in council members. Most notably Susan Clarke, by far the most qualified and experienced financial professional on council was removed from the Finance Committee.
A new solicitor was appointed and given a 16% raise without approval of the full council.
It's the small things that make a big impact. Democrats don't mind sharing the credit, but it appears that our Republican representatives would like to keep all the credit and just hope we quietly disappear so that they can continue voting as a block, without deliberation or question.
